An effective information technology process analysis (ITPA) session should serve as the foundation for any tactical or strategic technology initiative. One of the biggest downfalls to any systems initiative is an ineffective discovery process of the current state and analysis of how IT team processes will be impacted by the project.

RPE’s Approach
We have extensive experience in conducting ITPA sessions. Our methodology consists of the following sections:

IT Assessment Phase
This includes defining the overall strategy and objective and reviewing all processes with the IT team to formulate an overall understanding.

IT Process Structure Phase
Consists of defining all distinguishing business and functionality requirements.

Summary Finding Phase
This includes compiling and formally documenting all distinguishing user requirements, desired features and functional gaps in a meaningful, actionable and useful document.

Executive Management Phase
Consists of the presentation of findings to key decision makers and stakeholders.

How do you measure the success of an ITPA session? Simple. The result should be meaningful, useful and actionable. By providing the proper foundation, the success of any subsequent IT initiative can be measured by the actionable results of the discovery process.
